Take it or track it

Success target: 8 of 10 correct calls, executed without a panic swing.

How to run it

  1. 01You hold the net; partner throws or hits lobs of mixed depth over you.
  2. 02For each lob, call your decision out loud: "mine" (take it in the air) or "back" (turn and play it off the glass).
  3. 03Anything you can contact in front of your body at full stretch is "mine"; anything over your shoulder line is "back".
  4. 0410 lobs, then swap.

Why it works

Most points lost at the net aren't bad overheads — they're overheads that should never have been attempted.
